#9: From international rugby player to teaching Yoga to international players with Alecs Donovan
Episode Notes
Alecs Donovan is former Ospreys player and Wales International who has recently retired to focus on running her two Yoga businesses Yogability and the Yoga Hub. She has been a Yoga teacher for over 5 years after getting into Yoga after rupturing her achilles and now teaches players from the Bristol Bears and also a number of professional and former professional players in Wales. Her Yogability method is targeted at helping athletes incorporate Yoga into their training regime combining Yoga with mobility exercises to improve their performance. She describes Yogability as ‘Yoga without the zen’.
In this conversation we talk about her journey in women’s rugby and some of the challenges and harsh realities of the sport. We then move onto talk about Yoga and how this practice helped her recover from a snapped achilles to representing her country and now to her teaching Yoga to some of the best players in the game to help with their mobility and also recovery from the demands of professional sport.
Huge gratitude to Alecs for sharing her story and shining a light on the powerful practice of Yoga. You can check Alecs out here on instagram
