LIVERPOOL HAVE A GEM! Jacquet Shines on Debut

Pre-season is officially over — and now Liverpool's attention turns towards what could be a massive final phase of the transfer window.

On the latest Newsround with Dave Davis, Dave reacts to Liverpool ending their preparations with a victory and a clean sheet, with Jeremy Jacquet producing an outstanding 45-minute debut, Ronald Araújo looking composed alongside Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Frimpong delivering arguably his most encouraging performance yet at right-back. With Newcastle now just days away, is Liverpool's opening-day XI beginning to take shape?

There were also encouraging signs from Trey Nyoni and Victor Muñoz, while Cody Gakpo responded to the continued speculation over his future with a goal and an assist. But questions remain over Liverpool's attack, the balance of the midfield and which members of the current squad could still depart before the window closes.

Then comes the big transfer story.

Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were both left off PSG's match sheet, with reports discussed on the show indicating both wingers could be heading for the exit and Liverpool remain interested in signing them. With PSG strengthening their attacking options and Luis Enrique refusing to clarify Barcola's situation until after the transfer window, are we finally approaching the breakthrough Liverpool supporters have been waiting for?

Dave breaks down why the latest developments feel significant, the expectation that Liverpool's pursuit of Barcola could now accelerate and whether a sensational Barcola-Mbaye double move could become reality.

Pre-season is finished. Newcastle awaits. Now Liverpool need to get their transfer business done.
