404. Beşiktaş 3-0 Kauno Žalgiris | VLAHOVIĆ DEBUTS AS BEŞİKTAŞ CRUISE!

Beşiktaş cruised to a 3-0 victory over Kauno Žalgiris in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff round, putting the Black Eagles firmly in control of the tie.

Oh Hyeon-Gyu opened the scoring inside six minutes before Amir Murillo doubled Beşiktaş's advantage in the 12th minute. Orkun Kökçü then converted a 60th-minute penalty after Oh Hyeon-Gyu was brought down, completing a dominant 3-0 win at Tüpraş Stadium.

There was also a major moment for new signing Dušan Vlahović, who made his Beşiktaş debut in the 61st minute. The Serbian striker nearly marked his first appearance with a goal, rising to meet a header that looked destined for the net before Kauno Žalgiris goalkeeper Edvinas Svedkauskas produced an excellent save.

Beşiktaş completely controlled the match, finishing with 75% possession and an xG of 2.68 compared to just 0.08 for Kauno Žalgiris. It was a performance in which Beşiktaş never really needed to hit top gear, with the Black Eagles seemingly able to control the game without ever having to seriously push the accelerator.

However, the comfortable victory was overshadowed by the physical approach of the Lithuanian side and some questionable officiating from German referee Tobias Stieler. Numerous professional fouls, challenges and apparent stomps on Beşiktaş players' feet went unpunished, while Leandro Trossard was forced off with a foot injury in the 73rd minute following another physical challenge.

So while Beşiktaş head into the second leg with one foot in the UEFA Europa League league phase, the injury to Trossard and the lenient refereeing leave a bitter taste after an otherwise excellent European night.
