RED SOX POSTCAST: Aroldis Chapman Shows He's Human; Sox Fail to Sweep the Athletics

The Red Sox (81-66) could not complete the comeback and closed out their 6-game road trip with a 5-4 loss to the Athletics Wednesday afternoon at Sutter Health Field in Sacramento, California. Rob Refsnyder tied the game at 4-4 with a pinch-hit, RBI Double in the Top of the 9th Inning. Aroldis Chapman gave up a leadoff Double to Shea Langeliers in the home 9th and Langeliers scored the winning on an RBI Single from Lawrence Butler, giving the Athletics the walk-off win. With the loss, the Red Sox failed to finish off the sweep and the club failed to move to a season-high 17 games over .500. The Sox have been walked off for the 12th time this season.

Sox On the Hill: Payton Tolle gave up solo Home Runs to Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz over the 1st 2 Innings. The Red Sox used 5 different relievers behind Tolle. Justin Slaten was charged with 2 runs after he left in the 5th Inning and was tagged with the loss. Kyle Harrison made his team debut and worked 3 scoreless Innings. Chapman had not allowed a hit to 50 consecutive hitters prior to allowing the Double to Langeliers. The Red Sox pitchers did not have a single 1-2-3 Inning in the game with the Athletics having at least 1 base runner in all 9 Innings.
