LSU’s Final Camp Practice: Defense Rises, QBs Collapse

LSU wrapped up its final fall camp practice inside Tiger Stadium with a day that left plenty of storylines heading into game week. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was present but did not throw the entire practice, leaving the spotlight on the backup QBs — and it wasn’t pretty. Both Michael Van Buren and Colin Hurley struggled, making it a day to forget for the young passers.

The Tigers were also missing several key players, including center Braelin Moore, offensive tackle Carius Curne, and defensive lineman Dominick McKinley. Despite the absences, the LSU defense continued to shine, showing off the talent and depth that has been a theme of camp all August.

Brian Kelly’s squad also treated the night as a full dress rehearsal, running through every imaginable game situation — from sudden change scenarios to two-minute drills and special teams work — preparing for what’s ahead as the countdown to Clemson begins.
