Episode Notes
Football has always had very few enemies. It has had the luxury of being the most popular sport in the world with millions of fans world wide. And it has rarely needed to exhibited its money-minded nature and we all know that's because as fans, most of us will be criticizers of it. But all that took a wild turn when Covid -19 struck. Suddenly football's revenue plummeted and with it the notion that 'football is for the fans'.
In our new segment, The Possimpable, we discuss the possibilities that the currently proposed biennial world cup could present in terms of the future of football and the revered history of the world cup. A small hint: the pros are staggeringly outweighed by the cons.
To entice the discussion around the relatively predicted results from both matchday 3 in the UCL and gameweek 8 in the premier league, there was some hesitation to be optimistic about the recent Newcastle FC club takeover. While most of the facts are jaw-dropping, history is not exactly in Newcastle's favor (except for the fact that they are literally owned by a country!) and unless their new owners have a long term plan in mind that's well executed the fate of the relegation placed club may not change.
