Big Wins, Nordic Stars & Champions League Nightmares

The Premier League is back, and there was plenty to unpack from an eventful opening weekend.

In the latest episode of The Prem Pulse Podcast, we review the biggest results and talking points from Gameweek One, before turning our attention to the Champions League draw, the midweek EFL Cup action and the final days of the transfer window.

Arsenal began their title defence with a convincing 3–0 win over Coventry, with Martin Ødegaard producing one of the standout performances of the weekend. The Arsenal captain scored, created chances and looked back to his best after an injury-disrupted campaign last season.

Elsewhere, Anthony Elanga struck after just five minutes as Newcastle drew 2–2 with Liverpool, while former Newcastle striker Alexander Isak returned to St James' Park in Liverpool colours.

Erling Haaland celebrated his 200th Manchester City appearance, but unusually failed to score or assist as City needed a late comeback to beat Bournemouth. Brighton thrashed Aston Villa 4–0, Brentford stunned Tottenham 3–0, and it was a weekend to forget for Victor Lindelöf.
